Profile Information

Welcome to my online Teaching Portfolio.  My name is Tricia Wilson.  The intent of this portfolio is to give prospective employers a glimpse of me and what I can offer to the teaching profession.  Along with a short intro about myself and how I got to this point, this site contains 4 sections.  The first 3 sections contain my Resume, Teaching Philosophy, and Evaluations and Recommendations.  The remaining section (My Views) contains 4 subsections that are aligned to the PDE teaching categories and contain downloadable artifacts relevant to each respective category: Preparation and Planning, Classroom Environment, Instructional Delivery, and Professionalism.

A little about me... I spent the last 10 years as software programmer, the last 5 have been at Lehigh University while I persued a Masters Degree in Secondary Education with a PA Teaching Certificate for 7 - 12 Mathematics.  I have a passion for teaching that I realized when I began coaching and officiating shortly after graduating from Moravian College with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Financial Economics in May 2000.  Since then I have gained invaluable experience in all aspects of life through my experiences as an adult and a technology professional, and I am especially excited to bring that experience into the classroom to engage students and make them more aware of the world that surrounds and awaits for them.

I spent the Fall of 2010 at Southern Lehigh High School for my pre-intern teaching assignment.  There I was able to gain some experience teaching Algebra 2 and Pre-Calculus.  I spent the Spring of 2011 at Broughal Middle School for my intern teaching assigment.  There I taught Pre-Algebra to 8th grade students at both the below-level and on-level tracks and completed an action research project on ClassWide Peer Tutoring (CWPT).  Both of these experiences reaffirmed my passion for teaching and that I belong in this profession. As I learn and grow as a teacher and a professional, I would like to focus on integrating technology  and CWPT into mathematics and making it engaging and meaningful to students.  Technology can be used in so many ways to assist in the learning process and take it to the next level.  My passion for mathematics came from seeing it action, and I would like to bring that to the classroom as well.
