My Teaching Ideals

I believe that science and chemistry are fun and exciting
and everyone can learn by doing and enjoying;

Rather than the old way of boooooring lecture
followed by endless memorization and huge tests.

About Me

I am a scientist who recently switched from industrial scientist work to teaching work.

I received a BA in Chemistry from Reed College (OR) in 1997 and have been working as an industrial scientist and inventor at a variety of firms since then.  I am finishing a M. Ed from Lehigh University in 2011.  I will receive a PA Certificate in 2011 for Chemistry. I expect to graduate Spring 2011 and enter the education field as a high school chemistry teacher in the Fall 2011.

I believe that my real life industrial experience, and my love of chemistry uniquely enables me to be an effective chemistry educator.  I am a highly qualified teacher, having excellent marks in my studies, excellent marks on the Praxxis Certification tests for Chemistry (0245) and Middle School Science (0439) and propagating levels of enthusiasm for science.  While participating in student teaching, I discovered that as a teacher,  I am passionate about chemistry , fun, exciting, and engaging in the classroom as well as enjoying a good rapport with the students.

 This webpage includes my resume.  My educational and industrial experiences are listed therein. Additional categories of achievements and position statements are shown under the sub-pages mandated by the PA Dept of Education.
