What is Professionalism?
Professionalism is the mark of a teacher as a responsible, prompt, dedicated educator.
Professionalism is portrayed through involvement with school events, effective communication with students, colleagues, and families, and overall ethical behavior both inside and outside of the classroom.
Participation in School Events
Teachers are role models within the classroom as well as in extracurricular activities, and as members of the larger community. Participating in school events provides students an example of school spirit, good sportsmanship, and integrity.
Below are pictures of me participating in a school basketball game and line-dancing. It was a lot of fun!
Communication with Families
Getting to know students' families is equally as important as knowing the students. Family and teacher collaboration can really create wonders for the progress of a student academically and personally.
Below is a sample newsletter I created to send to families in order to keep them informed of classroom events and updates.
Professional Development
Keeping abreast of educational policies and innovative instructional strategies is necessary to remain current and competent as a teacher.
